lochlann traveling towards st kilda This group of islands is the most remote in the British Isles, 40 miles from the nearest land, but it is well worth the trip. It has possibly the most awe inspiring scenery with the highest British sea cliffs (Conachair) at 1400ft and the highest sea stacks (Stac an Armin and Stac Lee) at 643ft and 564ft. It also holds great archaeological interest.

St Kilda is a World Heritage Site owned by the National Trust for Scotland, it is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument, National Scenic Area, Site of Scientific Special interest and European Union Special Protection area. All these titles are enough to say‚ the islands at the edge of the world‚ are special indeed.

The village on St KildaThe last St Kildan's were evacuated in 1930 leaving their homes behind. You can walk down the village street visiting restored cottages, the church, school, feather house and a museum. The slopes are covered with numberless cleits (stone storage huts) unique to this island. You may also spot the St. Kilden Wren and Mouse, a sub-species unique to the island.

As we cruise around Boraray the surrounding Stacs tower above you, here is the largest Gannetry in the world. The air and cliffs thick with birds: Gannets, Skuas and Fulmars‚ a sight that has to be seen to be believed.
